Obsolete
As of Fedora 36, empathy has been retired for several releases.

Description

Test whether a video call can be made over Jabber.

Setup

  1. Ensure that empathy and gstreamer1-plugins-good are installed.
The outcome of this test can depend on the software running on the remote system. We expect it to work with Empathy running on Fedora 17 and 18. It will not work with the proprietary GTalk client.

How to test

  1. Run Empathy.
  2. Make sure that you have a Jabber account. It can be GTalk or any other Jabber server, but not Facebook or Windows Live Messenger.
  3. Right click on a contact and click video call.
  4. Wait for the call to go through.
  5. Hangup by pressing the red button in the call window.
  6. Redial from within the call window using the green button.

Expected Results

  1. It should ring at the other end.
  2. After the call is accepted, you should be able to have a two way conversation with both audio and video.
