Background

I knew GNU/Linux about two years ago and Fedora was the fist Operating System that I was working on. I love working on GNU/Linux for several reasons. Fist of all, I love "Freedom" and GNU/Linux is a "Free" OS. Secondly, GNU/Linux has a huge number of Distributions, so I can easily choose one of the best Distros I like. Finally, GNU/Linux has many advantages, especially in Security.

I am currently an active member of Hanoi Linux User Group (HanoiLUG).

Activities within FOSS Community

Within Foss Community, I organized a lot of FOSS events at school where I was studying. Moreover, I participated a large number of FOSS events such as:

  • Ubuntu release parties from Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 11.10 in Hanoi
  • Software Freedom Day from 2009 up to now
  • GNOME 3 release party
  • FOSS@HUS, FOSS@ICTU in 2011

Activites within Fedora

It is true that I love Fedora so much than other GNU/Linux Distributions because of Fedora's Core Values (Freedom, Features, Friends and First). On the one hand, I was organizing and participating Fedora events such as:

  • Distributing Fedora Media (CDs,DVDs) for free to students studying at my school and others
  • Organizing Fedora release events with Mr. Truong Anh Tuan from Fedora 14 to Fedora 16 in Hanoi
  • and others

On the other hand, I was also joining Fedora Sub-Projects such as:

  • The Fedora Documentation Project
  • The Fedora Ambassadors Project
  • The Fedora Free Media Program

Objective

I love GNU/Linux so much, so I want to be a FOSS Contributor. I want to be a Contributor to the Fedora Project to represent, promote, expand the Fedora Project and its ideals to the large FOSS Community in my country.

Summary

In the furture, I hope that Fedora will be the best OS and there will be more and more people using Fedora in Vietnam. Finally, I want to say "Thank you!" to all of Fedora members and Fedora Community.
