OLPC - One Laptop per Child - at Fedora Booth

File:FedoraEvents FOSDEM FOSDEM2007 olpc.jpg

As OLPC's OS is based on Fedora Core and as Jim Gettys - currently Vice President of Software of the One Laptop Per Child project - is going to do the keynote during the FOSDEM, we should have at minimum an Olpc machine during a part of the event.

Status

The booths are situated in the long hall.

We have only one table - 2 meters - (share with Red Hat and JBoss Benelux) - which is quite small when we are more than five -.

The stand(s) will be at our disposal,

  • Saturday: 14:00 -> 19:00
  • Sunday: 09:00 -> 18:00

Normally, we should have network as well as wireless network.

Hardware Insurance

Fosdem provides a hardware insurance (which is free of cost for us) for all the hardware you will bring along.

That insurance for Fedora Speakers and Fedora Personnals at the Booth - - is free of charge - - is intended in our devroom (but not for the 4000+ visitors ;))

It covers theft and accidental breakage, but only on the location of the campus.

FOSDEM will provide a locked room where you can put your hardware in for the night from Saturday to Sunday (and there's also security staff on the campus during the whole week-end, including at night). Of course, you may also take your notebook (or whatever) with you to the hotel, but then it will not be covered in case of theft or accidental breakage.
