Fedora Core 6 Test 2 - Proposed Release Criteria

This document describes a set of release criteria for FC6 Test2.

You better believe this is a work in progress.

Someday we will have how-to-test documents for all this stuff.

Installation

  • Source media
  • Manual installs from optical media - CD, DVD
  • Network installs - NFS, HTTP, FTP
  • Network installs from ISO image(s) - nfsiso, ftpdisc, httpdisc
  • Install from local HD
  • Install target
  • Install onto removable media (USB HD or similar)
  • Install onto dmraid
  • Arches
  • Manual install from optical media should be tested for all arches
  • At least 1 network install for each arch
  • Interface
  • GUI, TUI, VNC (with and without "connect" & "password" params)
  • Multi-repo install - kickstart and GUI (new in Test2)
  • Upgrades
  • Normal upgrade from previous release
  • Multi-repo upgrade
  • Package sets
  • Default install should use only CD 1&2
  • Minimal install should work
  • Everything install ("*" in kickstart) should work
  • No scriptlet failures

Rescue

  • normal rescue
  • dmraid rescue
  • mdraid rescue

Desktop

  • GDM starts, login works for root and non-root
  • GNOME session starts
  • Firefox, gnome-terminal, and nautilus work
  • KDE session starts
  • Konqueror and KDE terminal (kterm?) work

SELinux

  • No AVC denial messages should appear during first boot

Xen

This definitely needs a how-to-test document of some kind - see docs at ["FedoraXenQuickstartFC5"]

  • Install xen packages
  • Create some guests

Other

  • Systemtap, kexec/kdump, AIGLX?
