Hi, I'm kumiponi from southern Finland. I started with Red Hat Linux 9 and have used Fedora since. I have knowledge of some other distributions too. I prefer to use KDE.
My main goal is to help in translating Fedora to Finnish, which is my native language. I have previously worked on translating The Battle for Wesnoth. I believe that a good translation should be:
- fluent and understandable to native speakers
and
- easy to “mentally translate” back to English, because many users may be more familiar with English terminology, and made-up neologisms that don't derive from established terms are likely to confuse more than help.
These goals are, of course, sometimes at odds because languages never map to eachother perfectly. It's a quest for balance.
I'm also somewhat of a hacker and have reported bugs on several occasions. I have a virtual server located in Germany.
