About Me

I'm Francisco Vergara, aka 'Patxi' on Fedora IRC and Discord channels, Software Engineer from Puerto Rico. Since I was a teen always found myself involved and fascinated with computers and electronics. Started to learn programming at the age of 13 in a language called Scheme, which is a Lisp dialect, and from there I continued with virtualization, networking, circuits and web development. When I started in 2003 documentation was pretty cryptic, there was no Youtube and I was just a 13 year old with basic maths knowledge, what can go wrong right? Although my knowledge on algorithms and IT terminology was second to none, an impulsive desire to learn and plain obsession with technology kept me from giving up and just fuelled my learning impulses.

My first encounter with Linux was a site called CrystalXP, which mostly had software to change the shell and aesthetics of Windows XP, but had some really cool Ubuntu-like themes and a lot of Tux images. In University I didn't do a lot of tech-related stuff since I was a Civil Engineering major, but one of my friend's boyfriend got me back into Linux and Perl programming.

Flash-forward today and a lot of untold stories, I'm back to technology and my current interests are Linux, C#, C#, C# and did I mentioned C#?
