Fedora Women aims to provide a central forum and point of support for the often under-represented side of Fedora's Community.
'''Fedora Women''' Fedora Women aims to foster involvement of women (cis and trans) and genderqueer people in [[Fedora]] and Free and Open Source Software.

A large portion of the Fedora userbase is made up of women.  They are often under-represented within the community, with many people not even realizing how big a share of the community they areThe Fedora Women program aims to improve that representation and to provide a forum for the women of the Fedora Community.

Fedora participates in the [https://wiki.gnome.org/Outreachy/ GNOME Outreachy] program, formerly known as Outreach Program for Women (OPW). Outreachy was inspired by both the Google Summer of Code and also how few women applied for it in the past. Different free and open source software (FOSS) projects or organizations can apply to offer paid internships as part of the program. This program is an internship program specifically targeted at women, people of color, and other under-represented groups. Our goal is to increase participation in Fedora. Fedora Women Fedora Women aims to foster involvement of women (cis and trans) and genderqueer people in Fedora and Free and Open Source Software.

Since being announced in July 2006,[1] Fedora Women has striven to raise awareness about women within the Fedora Project and their contributions. This year, we're striving to help build a supportive and inclusive community around Fedora Women, including women and genderqueer people.

On the Fedora Community Blog, a reflection and plan for reaching out to more women contributors was shared in the Women in Computing and Fedora article.

Mission statement

  • Foster involvement of women (cis and trans) and genderqueer people in Fedora and Free and Open Source Software.
  • Provide a central forum for women (cis and trans) and genderqueer interested in Fedora and Free and Open Source Software to interact.
  • Provide a stronger voice for the women (cis and trans) and genderqueer people of the Fedora Community and highlight their contributors to the Fedora project.

GNOME Outreachy

Fedora participates in the GNOME Outreachy program, formerly known as Outreach Program for Women (OPW). Outreachy was inspired by both the Google Summer of Code and also how few women applied for it in the past. Different free and open source software (FOSS) projects or organizations can apply to offer paid internships as part of the program.
