We noticed that you recently unsubscribed from the Ambassadors mailing list. If you want to remain active in Ambassadors, we ask that you remain subscribed. If you are no longer interested in being a Fedora Ambassador, that is ok. If you let us know, we can help you with that process also. Thank you.

Hello,

We have noticed that you have not subscribed to the Ambassadors mailing list since you joined the Ambassador group, or perhaps you have joined with a different email address. If you want to become active in Ambassadors, we ask you to subscribe within your probation period and to begin sharing your ideas with the rest of the team.

Thank you for expressing interest in joining Fedora Ambassadors. If you wouldn't mind writing up a short reply including the country or region you'll be representing, as well as some of the plans that you have for that region, or for the group as a whole, we'll take a look at it and then send you a list of steps to complete your membership.

Thank you,

Membership Check

Note.png
Hello,

Thank you for applying to the "Ambassadors" group in Fedora Account System.

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/AccountSystem

The job of Fedora Ambassadors is to represent the Fedora Project to all of the users, potential-contributors, and open-source enthusiasts in the world. Furthermore, Fedora Ambassadors work with many other Fedora teams, sub-projects, and special-interest-groups to ensure that they are well-informed about the many different parts of the Fedora community.

In order to maintain a high level of quality in our Ambassadors, we ask you to follow a membership process:

1. Pick a Mentor! Contact and start working with one of these mentors in your region:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/Join#Find_regional_Ambassador_Mentors

Your mentor will help you with everything that you need in order to become an Ambassador. The recommended way to start is, contact the Mentor via email and introduce yourself through your WikiPage.

2. Create your personal wiki page in the Fedora Project wiki.

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Your_FAS-username

The page should contain valid contact information, as well as a brief description of who you are, and the sorts of work that you are doing, and plan to do, within Fedora.

A template can be found at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Template:Userpage

Be sure to add the correct category to your page, as seen below:

[[Category:Ambassadors from YourCountry]]

3. Subscribe to Fedora Ambassadors mailing List

https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-ambassadors-list

There are a lot of people on the list, so it's not necessary to send an introduction. We do group introductions of all new members periodically.

After we get a "thumbs up" from your mentor and you have completed above steps, we will sponsor and approve your membership to the Ambassador group in the Fedora Account System.

Additional Steps

Note.png
It is also recommended that you perform the following steps:

4. Change your first name and last name to Latin letters in the FAS if you filled your name in Cyrillic, Chinese, or other than Latin.

5. Subscribe to Fedora Announcements mailing List https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-announce-list

6. Subscribe to Fedora Marketing mailing List https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/fedora-marketing-list

7. Read the Mailing Guidelines carefully before you start posting there. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MailinglistGuidelines

8. If you blog about your work as Fedora Contributor, add your blog to Planet Fedora. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Planet_HowTo

9. If you were contributing to Fedora before you signed the CLA, remove yourself from the Unlicensed Group for OPL without options.

Mentors first Answer

Note.png
Hi!

thanks for your introduction, I am going to be your mentor. I will help you to find your way into the Fedora Ambassador Group. So please read the following information until the end of the e-mail and don't forget to write me a reply answering my questions.

For information on obtaining a Fedora Project e-mail alias or Fedora Ambassadors business cards, please visit following:

Please always follow our Code of Conduct:

Here are a few good places to start exploring our wiki:

Each region of the world has Ambassador meetings on IRC. Please join your region's meeting, and look at past meeting minutes to get an idea of what is happening.

Consider joining a Fedora event near you!

Find the other Fedora Ambassadors on Freenode IRC (chat.freenode.net) in channels #fedora-ambassadors and #fedora-mktg.

I know, above contains lots of information. But unfortunately as haste makes waste, please really take some time to explore the wiki and try to get impressions about the Fedora Ambassadors and their work. Afterwards, if you are still interested in getting an Ambassador, try to convince me, that you are the right one for the Ambassador job.

Convincing me means as well, that I would like to know more about you, for example whether and how you are currently contributing to Fedora, since when you are using Fedora, your plans with Fedora and why you need to get an Ambassador to reach your goals. If you already have a meaningful user page in the wiki, you do not have to write things twice, point me to it. Otherwise this would be a very good chance to enhance your wiki page. Just be verbose - and I am waiting for your interesting reply via e-mail!
